Robin Thicke's album Paula sells fewer than 54 copies in Australia

After selling just 530 copies of Paula in the UK, Robin Thicke's miserable week continues with his grimmest sales figures yet

theguardian.com, Thursday 10 July 2014 13.17 BST

Robin Thicke's miserable week seems to be going from bad to worse. Following news that his latest album Paula sold a dismal 530 copies during its first week on sale in the UK, it now emerges that he's fared even less well in Australia. According to News.com.au, Paula has shifted less than 54 copies during its debut week on sale.

Thicke's attempt to musically woo his ex-wife Paula Patton failed to place in Australia's national Aria 500 Chart. The album at number 500, a Blondie compilation, sold only 54 copies last week, meaning that Thicke must have sold even less.

In comparison, at the same time last year, previous album Blurred Lines rocketed to the No 1 spot on the Australian chart.

Earlier this week, Paula made headlines for all the wrong reasons when it sold just 530 copies in the UK, less than 2% of his previous album's first week of sales. Paula also performed underwhelmingly in the US, selling only 24,000 copies to enter ninth position, a huge flop compared to Blurred Lines' 117,000 US sales in its first week.

Thicke continues to have a rough week, after a spectacular PR fail on Twitter. Attempting to promote his seventh album with the hashtag #AskThicke, punters used the opportunity to accuse him of misogyny and promoting date rape in his lyrics.

This fool... I edited out most of the interview and kept the best parts.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to do what millions of people would give their tweeting arm to do: chat with Khloe, Kourtney, and Kim Kardashian in the two-inch-long eyelashed flesh. To celebrate Babies “R” Us' (where their children’s line, Kardashian Kids, is sold) partnership with Operation Shower—an organization that throws baby showers for future military moms who are going through pregnancy alone during their husbands’ deployment—the sisters hosted an event for nearly 65 moms-to-be in New Jersey. And before they took the stage at the lunch, I gawked at sat down with the reality TV stars.

Before releasing them to the excited crowd of expectant moms, we grabbed a few minutes with the Kardashian sisters to discuss North West’s baby style (which Kim described as “princess girly, but in creams”), Kourtney’s stroller hoarding habit, and Kim’s feelings about pregnancy dressing. We also took a selfie. Naturally.

Can you tell me what it means to be involved with Operation Shower?

blah, blah, blah

So, for moms, what do you think the big essentials are?

blah, blah, blah

What is the best baby shower gift you’ve ever given or received?

Khloe: Whenever I buy stuff for my friends, it’s normally a car seat or something that my friends need and use all the time.

Kim: I recommend that everyone have a Diaper Genie. Who can live without it?

Khloe: Yeah that **** smells.

Kourtney: I have the best one. Mine is tin.

etc....

So in terms of kids clothes, do you think that kids should have style? How do you cultivate that style?

Kim: Absolutely. I think it’s a must. I think that you’ve got to see their personality to know what style they want.

Kourtney: The clothes that I had for Mason before he was born ended up being totally different than what his style was once he developed a personality. Once he was even born, I was like ‘Ugh, this is so not him.’ So many things I didn’t even end up using for him.

Kim: Like North doesn’t really like pink. Like, she’s very neutral…she doesn’t like prints.

How does she…how old is she now?

Kim: She’s one.

She’s one…how does she show you?

Kourtney: It’s Kim and Kanye.

Kim: She hasn’t liked it for her whole life.

Khloe: Kim and Kanye determine, and that’s what parents do.

Kourtney: Kim and Kanye don’t like pink or prints.

Kim: Kourtney is a full hippie, so Penelope is in like full hippie gear.

Khloe: She’s not a hippie. She’s like very girly.

Kourtney: She’s a girly girl.

Kim: But she’s not. She’s a total hippy girly.

Khloe: She is not a princess girly.

Kim: But North is a princess girly, but in creams. Like a cream textured princess.

Khloe: I would never define North as princess-y.

Kim: Really?

Kourtney: No, never.

Khloe: She’s like badass. Like, I’m North. She’s very confident in who she is. I will say that. And P is like submissive and sweet. North is very sweet, but North is like ‘Hi,’ like she bosses people around.

Kourtney: Penelope loves to show you her outfit everyday.

Khloe: This is the best interview I’ve ever done.

Can I ask you about pregnancy style: what you recommend and how you define your style?

Ed Sheeran named ‘most important act in black and urban music’

Grime artist Wiley calls it 'the saddest list in music history'

The BBC has been accused of producing “the saddest list in music history” after its black and urban music radio station 1Xtra produced a “power list” in which three out of the top four acts are white.

Topping the 1XtraPowerList – promoted by the BBC as naming the “most important UK artists in the black and urban music scene” – was Ed Sheeran, the white son of an art lecturer, who grew up in rural Framlingham, Suffolk, and whose music has combined elements of folk with hip-hop and grime.

The highest-placed black artist was rapper Tinie Tempah, who came third – behind second-placed Disclosure, the white brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, and just ahead of Sam Smith, the white son of a former City banker.

The list, offered by a radio station describing itself as “the UK’s leading black music station”, was condemned by the Grime artist Wiley, who was placed 16th out of 20. Calling it “the saddest list in music history”, Wiley, 35, whose hits include “Heatwave” and “Wearing My Rolex”, tweeted: “Not taking anything away from Ed. He is sick. But black artists in England, we are getting bumped... We influence a man and all of a sudden it turns he has influenced us.”

He added: “England music industry is backwards.”

Wiley’s criticism follows claims that 1Xtra and other radio stations created to showcase black music were instead switching to playing mainstream hits. Kele Okereke, the frontman of the indie band Bloc Party, has criticised 1Xtra for axing the dancehall and RnB DJs Robbo Ranks and CJ Beatz because of “budget cuts”, while keeping more club-oriented presenters. In an article for the Vice website, he said: “The UK has an issue with racism that we are unwilling to address – it is reflected in negative attitudes towards black British music, but also towards black British culture in general.”

Black artists who did make the top 10 of the power list included Fuse ODG and Emeli Sande, picked by a panel of “industry experts” sifting through suggestions made by the station’s listeners.

A BBC spokesman said: “Artists were considered on variables such as sales statistics, quality of music and impact across the wider industry – it is not about the colour of someone’s skin.”

Austin Daboh, music manager at 1Xtra, insisted: “We are a station that cares very deeply about black music. From Stylo G to Fekky these are all acts that were played, supported and guided by 1Xtra, often before anyone else cared.”

He added: “There is definitely a wider debate to be had around the mainstream support for black music. Legitimate concerns have been raised around the pressure some artists feel to compete commercially.”

(CNN) -- Comedian Tracy Morgan is suing Walmart over a deadly limo bus crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that left him critically injured.

The complaint was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court in New Jersey.
Morgan, 45, suffered broken ribs, a broken nose and a broken leg in the crash in the early morning hours of June 7. His friend and fellow comedian James McNair was killed and others were injured.

The Walmart truck that rear-ended Morgan's limo was traveling 20 mph over the speed limit and its driver was almost at his drive time limit, according to a preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board

According to the complaint filed by lawyers acting for Morgan and three others, the truck driven by Walmart employee Kevin Roper collided with the rear end of Morgan's vehicle.

"The defendants' negligence was a substantial contributing factor in causing plaintiffs' injuries," the complaint states.

Roper, from Jonesboro, Georgia, pleaded not guilty last month to criminal charges that include vehicular homicide and assault by auto.

Morgan was a regular on "Saturday Night Live" for seven years and later received an Emmy nomination for his role in the comedy series "30 Rock."

The New York City native made his reputation with over-the-top characters and impressions of celebrities such as Mike Tyson and Oprah Winfrey.

In 2007, at the age of 5, Malcolm and Jared formed their metal band “Tears of Blood”. What first started out as a duo, has now been made into a trio. Their childhood friend, Alec Atkins is their new bass player. The boys say they draw inspiration from groups such as: Slipknot, Disturbed, Metallica, Escape the Fate, Motionless in White, and Chelsea Grin.

Unlocking the Truth has been signed to a two-album recording contract with Sony. The deal comes with a $60,000 up-front advance and an option for four additional LPs.

“What started out as play dates went to Times Square and now this. It’s been one great thing after another,” Dawkins’s mother, Tabatha, told the News. Unlocking the Truth is currently touring the country as a part of the Vans Warped Tour and recently opened up for Gun N Roses in Las Vegas.

Pretty much the same thing going on over here with white media outlets. A few months ago, Lalah Hathaway was complaining itunes R&B page had Robin Thicke, Mackelmore and Sam Smith highlighted and no black singers. And some publication just called Iggy Azalea the queen of hip hop and the star of the BET Awards.

The wife of "Love and Hip Hop" star Yung Joc must have finally reached her tolerance level of watching her hubby and his sidepiece on TV ... so she's pulling the plug on their marriage.

Alexandria Robinson filed to divorce the 31-year-old rapper. They were high school sweethearts and have been married for 13 years. They have 3 kids.

Alexandria acknowledges in her docs ... she and Joc have been separated since Feb., 2012.

She wants the works -- spousal and child support. She says she only pulls in $1,875 a month. But she's banking on getting royalties from his music publishing rights.

Not surprisingly, Alexandria cites adultery as grounds for the divorce.

Joc's been carrying on a high profile relationship with Karlie Redd on "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta." They live together on the show. And get this ... the GF gets really pissed off when she suspected he cheated on her.
