A lot of times I run across a lot of good information for parents of school age kids when I am researching for information for resources for my son...I thought I would create this sticky to share what I have and what others may also like to contribute.
now I just need to find something that will give me patience on dealing with a 10 year...especially during homework time when I LITERALLY have to sit right beside him to make sure he is staying focus and on track.....I can leave him alone doing math assignment for a second...while I go to the bathroom, log on the internet, for about 5 minutes or so and come back and find him doing everything but MATH... .....my stress level is off the charts....and I don't have the energy to whip his ass every five minutes..so that is no longer an option...
so basically when we are finished with homework..I have to get a drink just to calm my nerves..

The above is for children who are having problems learning in school (learning disabled). Instead of medication, it focuses on body movements to control behaviors.
This is a website that provides guidance to African American parents with getting their kids to college..
Since its founding in 1988, BLACK EXCEL has helped young people and their parents all across the country to navigate the difficult college admission process. We have tried to make the way easy and accessible. As a result, we are happy to say that we have helped hundreds of African Americans get into college who might otherwise not have done so.
Students we have counseled have gained entry to over a hundred different colleges. Here's a gateway to (New) U.S. States Colleges and Universities and (New)Historically Black Colleges. Our "accept" lists comprise an honor roll of schools, touching every level of excellence and entrance difficulty. Whether a student was looking to Spelman, Yale, Hampton, Boston College or a lesser known school, we knew how to help. As a result, scores of our children are now looking to brighter futures. Some are already in law, medical and graduate schools.
Right from the beginning, parents asked us for scholarship help. Nearly all were concerned about how to finance their children's higher education. BLACK EXCEL got busy creating our first Scholarship List. Not only did students and parents request the List. Libraries, colleges, high schools, churches, and other organizations did so as well. Write-ups about BLACK EXCEL began to appear in Black Collegian, Career Focus, College Preview, Emerge Magazine (Sept. '96), the Chicago Tribune...and other magazines and newspapers. BLACK EXCEL has been spotlighted in a book by Dr. Hartman of the College Board and by Netbooks (the college edition).
We have been consulted by US News & World Report, as well as by top college-help organizations and experts for our input.
Our scholarship list has been called "the most comprehensive" available for Black students.
BLACK EXCEL services have expanded over the years to include an updated 350+ Scholarship List; a personalized College Help Package; a quarterly newsletter; a reference guide to 143 Historically Black Colleges, detailed profiles of individual schools (see below); and a Medical School Help Package.

Some Resources for Understanding and Affording Private School Education
To all the math addicts I found a free source MATH WIKI! Yahoo! I used it tonight with my daughter for homework and it is AWESOME! I love it because not only can you search on keywords, they also have interactive animations which is great when teaching geometry.
Then for those of you with grade school children I found this math website for homeschooling. I signed up for her newsletter and with that you get 280 FREE math worksheets to download and work with your children. Check it out!
I have a few other resources that have proven to be great!
http://www.teachertube.com -- I love this site because we've been able to watch videos regarding so many subjects presented in many different ways.
http://www.iknowthat.com -- My attraction to this site is when doing science stuff the kids can switch the view from graphics to microscopic in order to view what parts of cells look like under the microscope.
