Post Striking when the iron is HOT Reply with quote
Have you ever failed to strike on a potential romance when the iron was hot? Did you regret it? For example, I can recall numerous times when I could've talked to some cute chick (or closed the deal), but put it off, convincing myself that I'd see her again anyway (and never saw her again). I remember a few instances when I could've hit it on the first date, but didn't bring any condoms because I wasn't expecting sex (DOH!). Those are two lessons that I had to learn the hard way. One of them cost me my pride and the other cost me the waste of a good woody.

When were those times that you failed to STRIKE? Laughing

When I was in college, there was a friend who "loved" me to no end (and I did some schit too)....I kept putting him off until *I* was ready. One day, after graduation, he asked me to spend the night with him...I agreed, but stayed away from my apartment the whole week. I often wonder what it would have been like had we spent that night together.

God yes. I went to Spain on Spring Break back in 95. There was a classmate that I was cool with, but we never got to know each other all that well. Well on the 7 hour busride we sat together (I don't know why, back then, I hung around everyone.) Anyway, by the end of the ride we were having a good time, sitting really close and just flirting etc. We hung out together that first night. But the next day I found a cutie from another school and hooked up with him. To this day I wish I would have made a move on Daniel Travino. I could had me some half black half Spanish/Italian babies. Laughing Laughing

I always have trouble following through with men that aren't black. But I never have that problem with men that are. Well, they usually make the first move anyway.

Another was another white boy (half white half chinese.) Just gorgeous. We volunteered at a teen center. Well he volunteered, I was just always up there harrassing my girlfriend who worked there. He was the boyfriend of a friend (we were all 19 or so), someone I never spoke to, we had classes in high school together so I did know him, but not like that. Anyway, he started becoming touchy feely, massaging my shoulders, picking on me, etc etc etc. I know I could have hit that NO problem. But as long as I've known him he's dated someone I really liked. She wasn't my friend, but I really liked her so I let it be what it was. Crying or Very sad Laughing

I've never missed an opportunity, but I do know a guy who missed an opportunity with me. He was so caught up in playing 'hard to get' that by the time he turned around to see if I was chasing him, I'd moved on to bigger and better things. He actually came back years later and admitted that he totally missed his opportunity by playing games. Laughing But... well... by then it was too late. Laughing

...and YOU'RE the one who said that this topic depresses you? If anything, it oughta depress those of us that have our own stupidity to blame for missed opportunities... LOL...

I know a guy like that too. Had a bunch of chickenheads chasing him and blowing up his ego. I ran into him Monday night at the gas station on my way to class. I hadn't seen him in a couple years the look on his face was priceless. Now he has three babies by three of those chickenheads that were chasing him around...

This is my life story. My book title in my twenties that only I've now rectified, lol.

As much clubbing as I did in my 20's I don't think I ever had a one nighter although years after the fact (after shes all married and out of her so called 'stage" sighing) I've been told it could have happened.

Now I can recognize these opportunities quickly for what they are so I can jump on them. Earlier I guess (and too many to name) I really didn't know if people were serious or in an altered state. So I was always under the impression that I didn't want to be accused of taking advantage.

Also, if I was between haircuts. Man did I feel like a bum even though in hindsight I wasn't. If theres an achiles within me thats my Sampson for real. That said, I'd encounter situations where some dime would be talking to me and I'd run from it becuase I felt my hair wasn't tight which didn't make me feel that confident.

It's funny because now I still like to keep a tight line at the minimum but I don't care anymore.
