Some comments about "Atlantic Starr's"

There is no way in my opinion to sustain a band that big so it's good it did got reduced.

Personally I think their undoing was doing those utterly "sappy" songs. I hated "Materpiece", "Always" was good but you'll NEVER see me rock it or pump it out of my speakers. No comment on "Secret Lovers"

I was pesonally more of a fan of their "Circles", "When Love Calls" type of cuts. "Am I Dreaming" is a forgotten cut of theirs also.

How typical (sighing) one of the members is now preacher Confused Confused Sorry but Black folks and this "religious hustle" is just tiring. I guess all those years of being a selfish, "spotlight on me" individual made him want to repent.

I've met and spoken to Jonathan Lewis (the Lewis brother with the gap) on multiple occasions when my friend booked them. They don't really like to address the Sharon Bryant or Barbara Weathers questions but he was a cool guy. I frankly don't think they have a place in the modern music industry but he was really excited about a project he was working on with the new lead singers they have (two young guys. They were shown at the end of the program).

How many times are we going to hear the SAME OL story about bands?? Ego's, ego's, ego's..

Learned a few things I didn't know. I didn't realize that Sharon was a cousin of the brothers. Their songs with her are my favorites.

Outside of that, it was quite apparent that EGOS will kill a group quickly as it's an oft repeated story.

I didn't like anything this group did after Sharon. I hated Secret Lovers and especially hated Silver Shadow.

Thought it was hilarious how David resented Barbara, but at the end of the show David's wife is singing Barbara's part of their "Always" duet. Laughing

Yeah that was a mess. Laughing

Amey that's not the first time I've heard people using that as their wedding song. It ranks up there with Congratulations and Reasons as inappropriate wedding selections. Laughing

I saw the Atlantic Star episode and all I was doing is sitting and waiting for 1 or 2 of the Lewis brothers to say they came out of the closet. They were too suspect. Never a big Atlantic Star fan but liked...I Am I dreaming. Secret Lovers, Touch a Four Leaf Clover, If Your Heart Isn't In It.

My favorite Atlantic Starr period, as many people have said, was the Sharon Bryant years with the "Radiant," "Brilliance" and "Yours Forever" albums. Their standout songs from "Radiant" were "When Love Calls," "Send For Me" and "Am I Dreaming;" from "Brilliance" there were "Love Me Down," "Circles" and "Let's Get Closer;" and from "Yours Forever," I liked "Touch A Four-Leaf Clover," "Yours Forever" and "More, More, More."

In addition to Bryant's emergence on those three albums was the production of James Carmichael, who also produced The Commodores and Lionel Richie's early solo career. When Carmichael and Bryant left the group, the Lewis brothers moved Atlantic Starr into a more adult contemporary/pop direction and that was when I lost interest.

The business manager also left a bad taste in my mouth. Most of these shows I leave with some sort of amazement or wonder. With this one, I left thinking they got what they deserved.

Unpopular opinion, but Barbara Weathers was one of my favorite singers. I loved her voice and style. I thought she was super pretty and always wondered what happened to her. That business manager and the gay Lewis brother did her so dirty. I had no idea she was so young when she joined the group. Loved Silver Shadow, the song not the ghetto Baltimore club. I liked both Barbara and Sharon really, but I'm young. I knew Sharon's voice, but she got sent packing before my time.

I didn't know who the gay one was when he was interviewing. He was unrecognizable to me without the douchebag moustache and greasy curl. Where was I when they were all wearing relaxers and dressing like John Stamos? I don't remember this era at all. Maybe this was around the time I was in love with The Boyz and Hi Five. I also had NO idea they sang Masterpiece. All these years I thought that was SURFACE!

Also, wouldn't it make more sense to have all these eps in one thread?
