Caught the first one. It's okay. I'm reserving judgement because I'm not sure I like the constant switch up with Washington's character. She goes from being Miranda Priestley to Chicken Little constantly in the first episode.
[hide] I think the thing about taking on the White House is pretty ambitious for the writer and the show. Hasn't anyone watched 24? Prez will have your ass SMOKED.[/hide]

because I have no words.
Let's just say the Wife is going to learn to love this show...and she'll never know why.
Well...she'll figure it out, I just don't think she'll care.
Hold up...I think she will.

I know it's been ages but you've saw her frequently during the Monica Lewinsky mess. She was part of Lewinsky's legal team.

First episode, they all talked to fast for me. Had to watch that episode twice.
Second episode, either I was used to all the fast talking or they all slowed down.
I love the story loop regarding the POTUS "snowflake" mistress all the while he's processing his true love to KW.

Speaking of that, I loved the scene in the first episode when they find out that the military guy's girlfriend was sleeping around and she was like, "I have good news; Paige was a whore!" LMAO!!!

The investigator is a hoot! So far she's my favorite. She doesn't bite her tongue.
She cracked me up when she posted up on the wall her co-worker's pic because he was one of the madams clients.
One mistake in the 2nd episode: KW firm is so high powered, very influential, knows everybody in DC plus their mamas yet, cannot stop a reporter from getting pass security?!?!? She needs to fire those Keystone Cops and replace them with prison buffed Bubbas & Pookies armed security crazies & place them right out of the office front door as a backup.

Interesting article about Judy Smith
Smith's firm at heart of 'Scandal'
By: Patrick Gavin
April 3, 2012 10:30 PM EDT
Judy Smith knows a thing or two about scandals. Her Washington-based crisis management firm, Smith & Co., has worked on cases involving Monica Lewinsky, Michael Vick and BP after the Gulf Oil spill. (Prior to that, Smith served as an assistant U.S. attorney and a deputy press secretary in George H.W. Bush’s White House).
It’s enough of a résumé to help inspire, in part, ABC’s new prime-time drama, “Scandal,” which debuts Thursday and was created by Shonda Rhimes of “Grey’s Anatomy” fame. The show’s lead actress, Kerry Washington, plays Olivia Pope, a character modeled after Smith, who has used her Washington expertise to help craft the show’s narrative.
“They will say, for example, ‘Oh, I’m thinking of a plane crash. What kind of crisis would that create? How would you solve that crisis?’ I provide them with crisis advice and how we would handle it, what sort of strategies would be involved in a particular situation,” Smith, a producer on “Scandal,” told POLITICO. “I think it helps folks on the entertainment side for any show … to have someone that can give them that level of authenticity in things that they’re doing.”
Washington’s character is a former White House communications-director-turned-crisis-management-firm-head who helps some of the nation’s most powerful people keep their secrets, well, just that. Consider the following episode summaries, via TV Guide:
“On the opener, new hire Quinn Perkins is awed by her boss, whose own former boss — the president — is a client. He’s accused of having an affair.”
“When a D.C. madam comes under investigation, the team must keep her client list — a who’s who of movers and shakers — from being made public. Meanwhile, Quinn has difficulties with the president’s former intern Amanda Tanner.”
Smith’s time putting out fires has taught her a few things that she shared with POLITICO:
1) Switch the order of priorities:
“When clients are involved in a crisis, we often start at the end. When this is over, where do you want to end up? What’s your endgame? We try to start from that and work ourselves back.”
2) Everyone deserves redemption:
“We all make mistakes and sometimes the difference that we forget is that the people we read about in the paper and on the Internet and see on TV, behind that is, at its core, a mistake. And I think that people, generally speaking, deserve a second chance after they make a mistake.”
3) Ambition is a double-edged sword:
Discussing former Sen. John Edwards, Smith says “ambition got him to where he was” on the national stage, “but certainly a mixture of, probably, ambition, denial and fear led to this downfall. The same qualities that we all have that are good can lead us to bad things or lead us into a crisis if we don’t try to balance them.”
4) Scandals ain’t what they used to be:
“As a culture, we have changed along the way, which is that with every sex scandal — from President [Bill] Clinton down the line from Edwards to Anthony Weiner to Gary Hart — you’ll see that the American public has become desensitized to it because they’ve seen it too much. Yes, there’s concern, but it’s not something that they’ve not seen before.”
5) Scandals make D.C. more exciting:
“I think that scandal and intrigue and all of those sort of things that occur behind closed doors, whether it’s on the Hill or in the White House, people all find intriguing.”
6) The Internet has upended her profession:
“There’s just more people covering [scandals] that the level of competition has intensified crises and, quite frankly, it has affected how we do business and how we deal with crises. When something hits a blog, it’s out there and then, all of a sudden, even if it’s not factual, it can become ‘factual’ because it becomes perception and, in this town, perception becomes reality.”
For more tips, Smith is out with a new book, “Good Self, Bad Self: Transforming Your Worst Qualities into Your Biggest Assets,” which explores overcoming any crisis and the seven traits at the root of any crisis: ego, denial, fear, ambition, accommodation, patience and indulgence.
